Single-spin asymmetry $A_N$ of inclusive $\pi^0$ production
in polarized target fragmentation region in the reaction
$\pi^- \pdup \rar \pi^0 X$ at 40~GeV is presented.
$A_N =(-13.8 \pm 3.8)\%$ at $-0.8
