The Notion and Attributes Evolution of Computer Systems Dependability |

Here is the evolution of a computer systems dependability notion. Dependability is a complex notion and a set of theories and investigations there are around it. The paper from software point of view defines some dependability related questions. The questions may have influence on decision making during information/control computer systems design and realization. The definitions of basic parts a computer system dependability notion consists of are given. The paper indicates some relevant techniques and methods to achieve required dependability level. Discussions and definitions are general enough with accent on quality and some quantity properties of the dependability. Relationships of dependability attributes with some other applied domains are mentioned.
