Charge Asymmetry in the Muonic Decay of the K20
Phys. Rev. Lett. 19 (1967) 987;

Motivation
We report herewith the observation and measurement of a charge asymmetry in the muonic decay of the long-lived neutral K meson (K20). In particular we find the decay rate R+ into + to be larger than the decay rate R into + with the ratio determined as R = R+/R = 1.0081 ± 0.0027 This result, obtained at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC), is a prime facile demonstration of CP noninvariance in K20 decay. It is consistent with theoretical expectations based upon an analysis of experimental data which have been obtained since the first such demonstration by Christenson, Cronin, Fitch, and Turlay.
