Abstracts
Investigation of the K+ p K* DELTA++ at 1.96 BeV/c with the 20-inch Brookhaven bubble chamber was achieved by looking at K+ p K+ + p events. 201 events out of 310 were in the double-resonant K+ and p + states as shown by the effective mass distribution. From examination of the distribution of the angle between the outgoing K+ meson in the K* centre-of-mass system, and the incident K+ direction, the anisotropy can be fitted with a cos 2 term. Combining this result with those of Alston et al. allows a spin and parity assignment of 1- to be given to the K* . An "Adair analysis'' of the data suggests the type of alignment of the K* spin which is expected if one-pion exchange is the dominant production mode. (Science Abstracts, 1963, 4457. R. J.
