Regular procedure for finding effective potentials of different two dimensional models at nonzero temperature and finite volume is proposed. It is founded on the Epstein dzeta-function method and is used to study phase structure of the Gross--Neveu model at periodic as well, as antiperiodic boundary conditions and in the presence of temperature.
