Characteristics Study of Shower Punchthrough for 70 GeV Protons Incident to Steel

Measurements of the total punchthrough probability have been made for 70 GeV protons incident to steel for of steel thickness ranging from 1,5 to 3,0 m. The spatial characteristics of these showers were also measured. These results have been obtained using large scintillation counters. The results are compared with Monte Carlo calculations using GHEISHA and FLUKA generators to simulate the hadron-nucleus interactions.
