Analysis of RF beam control system performance in a proton synchrotron is given. Decrements of dipole oscillations in a proton beam depending on gain factors in the phase and radial contours of the system have been calculated. At first, analysis of a perfect RF beam control (at infinitely wide passbands of the contours) was made; then the decrements were received in view of specific transfer functions of the elements of the feedback system used in the IHEP PS. On the basis of the analysis, a number of conclusions on an opportunity to improve the given feedback system performance characteristics were made.
