The Performance of the $e/\pi$ Rejection on the Trigger Level
Protvino, 2001.- p.10, figs. 7, refs.:20.

In this paper we investigate the capability of particle identification and the feasible limit value on $e/\pi$--rejection factor [$R(e/\pi)$ = (electron detection efficiency)/(hadron detection efficiency)] at the trigger level for a case of isolated particles. Several schemes to realize such an ``electron'' trigger have been proposed in which a combination of two different counters was used. Fairly detailed estimates of the performance of electron and hadron counters positioned at the region of a corresponding cascade curve maximum have been done. We tested a promising solution for signals data acquisition using the classifier based on neuron networks. This classifier has been applied as alternatives to the conventional threshold electronics switched at coincidence and anti-coincidence to zero level trigger. Using the neuron network algorithm could improve limit on rejection factor at least to order.
