Study on Short-Term Gain Instability and Aging of FEU-115M Photomultiplier Tube

The results of FEU-115M photomultiplier gain instability studies are presented for the changes of count rate appropriate to the anode current value range from 0.02 to 120 mA. Considerable differences from tube to tube are observed in caused by count rate changes gain instability character and its size. Gain variations for some of the tested tubes reach up to 23% in the studied anode current range. Results for the long-term behavior of the gain in high rate conditions (the aging study) are also submitted. Relative gain drop 30% is observed after accu-mulation of the anode charge 600 C.
