Transversally-flat dose field formation and primary radiobiological exercises with a carbon beam extracted from the U70
Protvino, 2014. – p. 22, figs. 9, refs.: 2.

The paper outlines a technique to attain extended transversally-flat paraxial dose field with an intermediate-energy carbon beam slowly extracted at the magnetic-field flat-bottom from the U-70 synchrotron of SRC IHEP of RNC «Kurchatov institute». To this end, a fixed-radius circular sweep due to a dedicated compact electromechanical wobbler with rotating permanent dipole magnets is applied. A technique to tune beam transfer line and the irradiation facility as such of the interim ad hoc radiobiological workbench with an external fixed-target is put forward. A brief description of its engineering implementation is given. Outcomes of the successful experimental verification of the technique in question with a carbon-nuclei beam from the U-70 machine are presented, technique and results of the primary radiobiological exercises accomplished in cooperation with the scientists from the MRRC of the Russian Ministry of Health being included as well.
